Promoting School Readiness to over 3,000 Children
July 12, 2017 – Atlanta, GA – On Saturday July 22, 2017, Hosea Helps will host its 12th Annual Back-To-School Jamboree at the Turner Field Orange and Gold Lots located at 755 Hank Aaron Dr SE, Atlanta, GA 30315. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an official press conference held at 11 a.m. With the support of the event’s Premier Corporate Sponsors: Well Care Health Systems, Luther and Susie Harrison Foundation, Georgia Power Foundation, Kanner and Pintaluga, Amerigroup, Walmart, Wayfield Foods, 1 L.I.F.E. Foundation, and American Honda Finance Corporation. Hosea Helps will provide over 3,000 children with backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year. All Atlanta media outlets are encouraged to do their part in promoting family attendance for this event in an effort to help children receive health screenings, clothing, and fresh produce . In addition, over 200 pairs of tennis shoes and 100 electric toothbrushes will be given away; most importantly, there will be onsite registration for children attending Atlanta Public Schools. Gentrification has become a primary focus in Atlanta, many families have been displaced from their homes over that last few months severely affecting children’s education. “Hosea Helps is committed to ensuring that students receive a proper education no matter where they reside.” said Elisabeth Omilami, President and CEO of Hosea Helps. “We have noticed that home displacement has become a major issue for some families as the cost of living is increasing. We refuse to let this affect innocent children. By providing onsite registration to Atlanta Public Schools we will continue our efforts to encourage the learning process and better our communities.”
The Back-To-School Jamboree is open to all families. Admission is free however, children must be present to receive supplies. Parents are reminded to bring identification for each child.
Currently, Hosea Helps is seeking additional donations of schools supplies, such as: book bags, glue sticks, rulers, calculators, scissors, packages of wide ruled notebook paper, packages of graph paper, spiral notebooks, 2-ringed binders, pocket folders, pencils, ink pens, notebooks, highlighters, packages of constructions paper, colored pencils, dictionaries, pencil boxes, crayon, large boxes of facial tissue, pencil sharpeners, 8 oz bottles of glue, pencil cap erasers, scientific calculators, and more.
