Through this program, we prevent homelessness by stabilizing households before they lose their housing, or by stabilizing them in new housing with a plan to sustain that housing.
Rent + Mortgage Assistance
When working families experience unchecked financial instability, the probability of them not being able to pay their rent or mortgage increases with time. We provide financial assistance to families who have demonstrated that, with support, they can stabilize their home, maintain rent and utility payments, and avoid the possibility of being evicted in the future.
Utility Assistance
The most notable signs that a family is at risk of becoming homeless occur when utilities like electricity, gas and water are turned off. Families go to school and work every day with no lights, or kitchen appliances, not being able to bathe or wash clothes. This is the quality of life that could easily and quickly become homelessness.
Rapid Rehousing
This program is for families and individuals who find themselves recently homeless, who demonstrate that with support, and if placed in permanent housing, that they will be able to achieve stability and maintain their housing. This program helps families recover from having an eviction on their rental record, and offers a second chance at a more affordable rate.
Emergency Shelter
This program is for families and individuals who are homeless during extreme temperatures, or during severe weather storms, or who have a chance to gain employment but need an opportunity to eat, rest and groom themselves before starting. We also help families whose housing won’t be ready in time to keep them from living on the streets.
Employment Assistance
Hosea Helps promotes self-sufficiency and stability by providing training in job readiness, understanding the barriers to employment, maintaining a professional appearance and attitude, and short-term and long-term family financial planning. Then we provide job placement and case management support to each household for 90 days.
Transportation Assistance
Visiting different human services agencies to find support, looking for employment, going to and from work your first week on the job, and keeping that job all require that you have stable transportation. This program provides financial assistance to families whose unstable transportation has the potential to threaten their financial standing.
