Back to School Programs
This program is designed to ensure that students from low income families have the tools to perform well in the classroom, and that their families have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Every child that attends this event receives a book bag filled with school supplies. We do our best to create book bags that meet the classroom needs of middle, elementary and high schools. We try to pack each bag with a well rounded menu that should last each student well into the semester.
Thanks to the support of Georgia’s farmers, we arrive at this event with enough produce for near 1,000 households. We setup a mini farmers market that allows families to get fresh fruits and vegetables at no charge to them. Growing minds need great quality foods.
Thanks to our medical partners, the children who attend this event have doctors who will see them and their families on site. Families can get basic health screenings, medical consultation, information on healthy living and eating, and information on acquiring health insurance.
Going back to school can place a financial burden on parents, so we offer free women and children’s clothing at this event. Our volunteers spend months receiving clothing donations, sorting them by gender, and making sure that everything meets our standards for great quality.
Our entertainment team lines up live performances for the children and their families. Many of those performers will be children themselves. We have a range of recreational activities, allowing children to enjoy a special blend of education, fun and learning to give back.
Every year we have request from teachers who normally have trouble stocking their classrooms with enough supplies to take care of the students that don’t have what they need to function in the classroom. This effort is our way of contributing to the success of those teachers.
